Still Busy

I want to sleep, but I know I haven't updated in a while, so here's the latest:

School is keeping me busy. I'm taking 17 hours, plus I have two jobs (my work-study job plus writing for the paper).

I got a promotion at the Technician. I'm now a "Senior Staff Writer." Basically, that means I'm willing to write and they can depend on me to turn my articles in on time. Plus, it also means I get paid more - $15 per article. Sweet.

Speaking of which, I got a call on Tuesday night asking me to write a particular story by Wednesday evening. The result is my first article of the new year. It's nothing spectacular, but it's something.

My Chinese class is hard. The teacher is going waaaay too fast. Somehow I'm supposed to learn how to read, write, listen and speak it all at the same time. Not cool. I'd rather just focus on the speaking and handle the writing after I'm able to understand what I'm writing.

Actually, the only class I really like this semester is my Writing About Film class. It's on movie reviews and film analysis, so that's cool. Plus, sometimes the homework is just to go to a movie. Why can't my other classes give me that as homework?

Speaking of movies, Night Watch is a very cool Russian horror film, the first in a trilogy. And Little Miss Sunshine is great. It's like a new puppy - something about it just makes 'ya feel good.

I'm required to take this particular seminar because I got the Caldwell scholarship, and as a class field trip we're going to a camp to do some team-building exercises or something. And when did they decide to hold this trip? This Sunday and Monday. Which means, among other things, that I don't get to go to D.C. to see my girlfriend. Plus, I don't even get to go to Vintage for the Sunday service, which I haven't been to in around 4 months. Ugh.

Okay. Bed time.

And So I'm Back...From Outer Space

I was planning on writing a novel or something describing my summer, but I don't really have time now. If you have questions, ask them in the comments section. Here's the summary:

I sold books door-to-door in Tennessee/Mississippi on foot and on a bike for 13 weeks, working 80+ hours a week.
I made approximately $9500, of which I saved around $4000-$5000.
I had an awesome time and learned a heck of a lot, and plan on doing it again next year.

I have seen only 2 movies since I stopped selling. Talladega Nights is so-so. The Descent is pretty good. Classes start tomorrow.

In a nutshell: I am alive.
